Polo Club. I reached 1 goals but dropped to 0 last year. Highlights have
been:- HPA scholarship to New Zealand, tour of US Universities with a
British University womens team, IWPA team for Women’s World

SILVER MEDAL
Fleur van Andel -1
I started playing polo five
years ago in Argentina when I was there for several months studying
Spanish. First my brother and then my father had already started playing
polo in Holland a few years before. So when I came back I was lucky to be
able to keep on playing. Now we mostly play tournaments held in
Holland and Belgium and some
in France.
I really look forward to
playing with and against ‘girls only’, especially because in Holland and
Belgium there are hardly enough women to make two teams.
Good luck to all the teams
and let’s have fun!
Karen Brink -1
Last year, good friends of
mine introduced me to the world of polo and I’m absolutely hooked ever
since. At the end of last season my team WASABI played and won its first
tournament. I combine my daily polo practices with my fulltime job in
Amsterdam, where I’m responsible for marketing for a web hosting,
security and media company. I strongly feel that working in a demanding,
yet inspiring and internationally oriented environment requires my full
focus and attention but at the same time provides me with lots of
positive energy and motivation. Key words are team work, ambition,
dedication and friendship. The same applies when playing polo: the
perfect match for me.
Maria Gemma Huynen (Capt) 0
I am a Law student in Leiden,
the Netherlands, living with 17 other girls in a student house. I
started riding at the age of 6 and was 8 when my parents restarted the
Antwerp Polo Club in Belgium. Major tournaments have been the Cocquetier
d’Or and the 1st Women’s European Championships, Chantilly, The Diamond
Stick Cup, Silver and Gold Cup in
Belgium. In
Argentina I played the International Women’s Polo tournament on the
Palermo Field number 2! Both my brothers (22 and 13yrs old), and my
parents play and I have also played with Lucas Criado, Marcos Di Paola,
Silvestre Donovan, Jose Rivas, Juan-Jose Brane and Guillermo
Willington.
Natascha Baecher 0
I have been playing polo for
about 7 years. Now based at Cowdray where I play almost all my
polo. For the past 3 winters I have spent several months in Argentina.
I adore the game there and their way of living, it is VERY special to
me. I have been exceptinally fortunate to have been taken under the
wing of a couple of people who have taught me both riding and polo. I
enjoy seeing the horses develop and learning how it is done. I am always
keen to improve and learn as much as possible and of course have fun. I
have been exceedingly fortunate in all the support I have been given and
opportunities given to me and to have such encouraging parents
IRELAND – BRONZE MEDAL
Buddy Brindley (Capt) -2
Former amateur jockey caught
the polo bug and is now playing in the All Ireland Polo Club in Dublin.
Consistent winner of the highly coveted Boozer of the Weekend award at
most Irish tournaments.
Deirdre Cash -1
Of the Cash Horse Empire,
bashful and shy Deirdre plays off -1. She first travelled to
England as a
stick chick and came back a “player”. Can be quite a useful when prized
away from the bar.
Susan Albarracin 0
Currently top rated Irish
woman player playing at the Moyne Polo Club in Ireland. Worked for
Hugh Dawnay for many years and was instrumental in encouraging many
women to take up the game in Ireland. Susan takes her partying as
seriously as her polo but is definitely playing off a much higher
handicap on the dance floor.
The Hon. Georgiana Crofton -1
Proud to be Irish having
earned her stripes working for Major Hugh Dawnay. Georgiana has been
supporting ladies polo in Ireland throughout her three year career in
the game. She appears refined and sophisticated while at the bar but
don’t be deceived on the polo field it is as if she never left
Ireland.
SWITZERLAND
Raffaella Agosti -1
I was introduced to polo
through my family at a very young age. I began playing chukkas 3 years
ago and my most important win to date has been the UK Women's National
together with Jodie Kidd, Victoria Grace and Freddie Rosso. I am about
to finish my studies in Hotel Management in Lausanne and worked during
this season at Guards Polo Club,
UK.
Aurelie Slavic -1
Currently playing at the Ham
Polo Club and has been based in
London this season. Played in the first women’s polo tournament in
Switzerland at the
Gstaad Polo Club.
Yasmine Luginbuehl (Capt) 0
Runs the Veytay Polo Club in
Switzerland with her husband Yves and is Switzerland’s top rated woman
player. Yasmine won the Swiss Champions Cup this year playing with two
other women in the team. They were unbeaten.
Gabriela Aeschlimann -2
One of Switzerland’s first
women players and a big supporter of women in the game. Has spent most
of her polo career playing Arena Polo.
